Goodreads asked Erin Alon Brain:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Erin Alon Brain I read multiple times that a helpful thing to do is day-to-day journaling. For whatever reason, I have a difficult time sticking with that. I do better when an idea comes to mind and I scribble it down ferociously before I forget. Then I sit and concoct a story that is posted pretty sporadically on my blog, but it suffices and works well for me.

Not everything that you write is going to be mind-blowing. I have been writing since I was a kid and it has been great practice. But there is often frustration involved when a story doesn't quite come together and you just have to keep working at it. So determination and perseverance are key qualities.
