How are you navigating the pandemic? I selfishly hope that you are doing well so that you can continue to write.

I Covid-shelter like a guilty pleasure, I'm afraid. It suits my reclusive tendencies all too well. Since I remembered I could freeze milk, I go to the grocery half as often and buy twice as much. The time it takes to use up one half-gallon carton is about what it takes for the next one to thaw in the fridge.
The writing hasn't been impaired, as one might guess from the two novellas last year. I'd retired anyway...

Lois McMaster Bujold:
What are the demographics of your biggest fans? Obviously it must vary by novel, but there's probably a strong center of fans who are parents or of parenting age, given how family (and dynamics thereof) is a recurring theme in your work. Indeed, one of the top questions on Goodreads is about your family. Your portrayal of family dynamics makes your stories powerful as well as fresh in the SF market, in my opinion.

"As far as medical aid goes, I'd think Miles would be a lot more comfortable going to Beta Colony. We don't actually know that he hasn't.." Interesting. I know someone with ALS, luckily the slow kind. I've wondered how profoundly it would affect him emotionally if it were not just arrested but reversed after 20 years of fighting & dealing with a slowly progressing debilitation. Conflicted, redefining himself at 65?

I just finished the 3rd Penric story - I have to say these are just getting better; Des and Penric are a wonderful pairing. I am fascinated by the possibilities. I especially like the "conservation of entropy" idea in how a chaos demon and its rider work together, which can go so many different directions, from subtle chemistry (catalyst?) to gross physical manifestations. I hope this gets explored more.
