Shayniah asked Nathaniel Hardman:

I just wanted to thank you for giving me feedback on my story Jinxed. It was originally named Too Average Max, but Jinxed was the original story I was going to put. I didn't put it because I wasn't too sure it was going to make it. I needed to make a lot of changes. A lot of people liked Max so I stuck with it. I want to be a writer How should I start?

Nathaniel Hardman You've already started! I really did think Jinxed was fun. I've heard two main opinions from writers on the most important thing you need to do to start writing:
1. Write a lot. Like daily
2. Read a lot. Like daily
For you, I would recommend reading lots, and then whatever you have to write in school, try to make it fun. I remember in 6th grade, we had spelling words every week, and we had to use each word in a sentence. I took that as a challenge to write the most outrageous sentences I could. (e.g.: "faucet: Out of the faucet spilled the monster - a writhing glob of acid-green slime and muscle that emitted an odor of burnt rubber"). Read lots, and whatever you write, make it fun. Good luck! I'll be excited to read your next story!
