Another question: what year did it take place? Given the days of week and calendar days mentioned, I had come up with 2011 as a plausible year but did you have a specific year in mind?

I did use a calendar, but I didn't have a specific year intended. Didn't want to date it, or seem like I was trying to make a prediction, and then have it be wrong.

In 77 Days in September, is the flight profile of the missile based on a real missile? I noticed that it was stated that it reached 82 miles altitude in 73 seconds, which seems like an extremely rapid ascent, even if it did not start its pitchover during that time.
