Can you explain the process of collaborating with someone else on a graphic novel? For instance, how much of the story do you have written before the illustrator begins?

Gene Luen Yang For all of my collaborations, I finish writing the book before handing it off to the illustrator.

Sometimes I do thumbnail sketches, sometimes I do script. For scripts, I follow Dark Horse's script format guide. Check it out here:
