I ask myself how my characters would experience a certain food, music, situation.
Most of all, I read and I dream. Then, I let my mind wander without holding it back. Sometimes it takes me nowhere, but then there is that one moment where I find the spark of an idea that gets my stomach flipping and my heart racing. That is when I know I have the beginning of something I want to put on paper.
