Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kate Clifford Larson I had long known about and deeply admired Civil Rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer and her story stuck with me through the years I was working on other biographies. Finally, I decided to start researching her life and see where it took me. I became hooked, just like I have with Harriet Tubman and Rosemary Kennedy. I feel privileged to have been able to write about Hamer - her story is important for all Americans to know. She is an inspiration!
