To deal with writer's block - I go and do other random tasks. This invariably takes me to a book or website of interest and this often provides me with a clue to where I need to go with my writing.
Another way I deal with writer's block is just to unload a whole lot of words on the page - it doesn't have to make sense or even be in order. I'll then leave the work and come back to it the next day with a fresh perspective.
