What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

J.R. Rice I guess one of the strangest things that has ever happened to me (as far as unexplainable goes) is I awoke to find a frozen T-bone steak (still in its package) on the floor of my living room early one morning; just sitting there, in perfect condition. It had come from my own freezer, and I was the only person home at the time. The rest of my family was out of town. I have no idea how it got there to this day. .....now start writing.

Along with the scares in your books, I also love the small-town atmosphere and the lives of people in it. Was Stephen King an influence since you mentioned him in Bane County? Also, what inspired you to have a small-town setting for your books?
