Goodreads asked Katherine Krige:

How do you get inspired to write?

Katherine Krige If you wait for inspiration, you might never get words on the page. Sometimes you just have to get the words down, so that you have something to play with and massage into the gold you ultimately share with the world.

That being said, there are plenty of things that spark interest in me, which I then mull over as inspiration for new writing. More often than not, it comes from speaking with others. Conversations that touch on hard topics, like death, dying, and grief, were what inspired my new book "Riding the Waves: A Memoir of Love, Loss, & Grief". I think people naturally want to learn and grow, and conversations that spark around intimate feelings that don't often own the spotlight make for great fodder. Just because we don't talk about it, doesn't mean those emotions don't exist. Writing them down and sharing them, helps people see themselves in stories, plus lets them know they aren't alone. If that's not great inspiration, I don't know what is!
