I have many favorite authors that I like to read . Danielle Steel, and Brandon Sanderson, just to name a few. But I usually just go to the library with my kids in summer and choose a good book or two at that point. Unless there has been a new release that I have been waiting for come out. Then I reserve a copy in advance. I buy books that I know the local library probably has not ordered yet as they come out.
