Thee Ace Man:
Your online biography of Karen Carpenter states that she was a Christian and you know it from firsthand observation. In that case, would you agree that the author of Little Girl Blue is lying when he claimed that she (and Richard) made statements indicating the opposite?
Thee Ace Man
Karen and Richard were Methodist / Baptist but they were also on the road a lot and didn't attend church very often. Not sure what Randy wrote about it, but I did find a lot wrong with Little Girl Blue here http://www.theeaceman.com/littlegirlb... . The book was very superficial in my opinion and lacked an awful lot. Lots of oopses in Randy's book.
Great question there. I didn't know Richard as well, but I know as far as Karen she was very Christian. When Karen would make an important decision she would always wait for 3 signs from God (for the Father, Son and Holy Ghost). In the case of marrying Thomas Burris, Karen had 4 signs instead of 3 and Karen thought it was a sign of change but then realized that it was a sign that things were messed up and not about change, but of course she realized that after she got married, not before. Karen was also diagnosed several times with arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) and Karen's response was always something like, "I will not be kept alive by a machine. I'm the way God made me. If God had wanted me to have a pacemaker installed He would have already done it. I have a heart that doesn't beat normal. If God wants my heart to beat normal He would make it beat normal." Karen was also a big one on forgiveness of others. Karen thought of God as like a person and someone to talk to so she would pray to God in her own way (but not the on the knees, hands together type prayer [unless in church], but just kind of say to herself type praying). Karen wasn't a devout type person about anything really, but she did have a strong Christian base with a bunch of added on proverbs (principles) I guess you could say.
