Did you find a big difference between writing poetry and short stories?

Queen Of Spades Definitely. I had to get adjusted to conveying words in terms of novel speak as opposed to poetic speak. With poetry (at least for me) one gets used to a certain rhythm as it applies to text, yet with short story writing there's a rhythm but in a different way. It is not in the actual text itself but in elements that comprise a terrific story and for the symphony of that to play out. At times, certain areas need more focus than others, especially when genre plays a factor. Yet I am enjoying the adventure. Thanks for asking. :)
