Goodreads asked Gill Mather:

How do you get inspired to write?

Gill Mather I've always wanted to write and loved reading. Years ago, mums were talking about Harry Potter at the schoolgate, and one mum said to me 'You could do that.' Actually, no! Not sure why she said it, but it got me thinking and I started a young adult sci-fi but never finished it. Then in 2012 I started a series of legal romantic novels. I'm a solicitor, so I thought 'Stick to what you know.' People seem to like my books and I think the writing's got better over the years but it's been very off-putting since then to get so few sales or reviews and get constant rejections from agents and publishers. Trying to promote which I'm not very good at takes up so much time. Still, the writing itself is enjoyable and I'm trying to tell myself it's enough!
