Great question! I think I'm like a lot of authors who maybe hear of something or experience something in our own lives and our imagination takes off with that never-ending question: what if? What if x happened, and then y happened, and then ... So, like all of my short stories and novel premises, the concept for this novel was a "what if" moment.
