Write, write, write and write. Then be prepared to delete, revise, delete and revise as much as it takes to make you feel your story is dealt with throughout. And take your time! Unless you are the Mozart of writing (for one, I know I'm not!) a good story has to mature in you and you have to mature as a writer.
