How do you get inspired to write?

C.L. Stockton I start with characters. I've had Sorin and Cadrian in my head for at least a decade now. Thankfully, my earliest versions of their story haven't survived.

I also write in scenes. The final scene in "Shades of Truth" actually was the basis for the entire first book. I've also had the drawing room scene from "Shades of Trust" in my head for months, long before I realized where it would fit in.

I have great respect for those authors who write using outlines and know exactly what will happen when. For me, I write random scenes and connect everything later.
