Difficult question because I am an aspiring writer.
1. Don't give up.
2. Don't write for fame and fortune, it rarely happens. Write because you want to, write because it's a passion.
3. Read lots! I read a couple of books a week, I am often shocked by how bad some of the writing is. That inspires me. :-)
