I really enjoyed your book "Intern". But I was felt shocked and sickened at the resus. treatment delivered to patients who were dying in ICU. ??

It’s complicated, how aggressively to resuscitate ICU patients who are likely terminally ill and will get little benefit from resuscitation efforts, and may even be harmed. No clear-cut answer, as with a lot of what we do in medicine. But I’m glad you enjoyed the book. Thanks for writing.

My late husband studied to become a physician in Mexico in 1971. For years, he worked many night shifts in various ER's across the country. He spent so many years without adequate sleep that I speculate when he crashed his airplane and succumbed to his injuries, he was attempting to overcome the psychosis he developed due to so many years without sleep. Will the demands ever change for those studying medicine?
