How do you get inspired to write?

D.K. Silver Inspiration hits as soon as I open my computer and read where I left off. I love the depths of my characters and when I'm writing, not honoring their voice or feelings, I end up quite frustrated because the words don't come. They only come when my characters feed them to me. I've tried to pull them in a particular directions but if they don't like it, if it's not their truth, the page stays blank and I sit, waiting to get out of my own way so they can speak. I've learned, I cannot force them.
