It was. My daughter was an Army wife in Fort Drum New York. She was pregnant with twins while her husband was deployed. Her husband was fine but his friend lost his right leg in an explosion. I wanted to write about real life situations. I loved Max and I am having a hard time loving Alec, although he is great!
