How do you get inspired to write?

Jessie Cox My first written story was submitted to my fourth grade teacher. When she read it to the class it was the only time I've every received twenty-nine rejections.
In later years I found a novel that someone had left on a bench. Within a few pages I saw why it had been abandoned. It was truly awful. Growing disgusted I threw it in the trash saying "I can write better than that." A little voice in my head said. "Why don't you?"
