Hi, Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your first two books . I am very happy you have written another! I will be starting it soon , just need to clear my schedule so I won’t be interrupted! Since the time span between books is 18 years will all the major characters a make an appearance? Congratulations and thanks, Gerrie

Lakshmi, Malik and Radha are each important to the trilogy, which is why they all appear in each novel. What interested me in continuing their stories was how they encountered obstacles at different stages of their lives and how they chose to handle them. The Henna Artist started Lakshmi’s journey in 1955. In 1969, we met Malik as a 20-year-old young man trying to make a name for himself in The Secret Keeper of Jaipur. And in 1974, we get to know how far Radha has come — from an obstreperous teenager to a responsible wife and mother with her own journey to independence in The Perfumist of Paris. Thanks for your question, and I can’t wait for you to read the third book in the trilogy!

The Henna Artist circulated well in our library and we also had take and make henna tattoo kits and it was a success. We love Alka and would love to have a perfume making class to promote the sequel. Is Alka available to do a zoom author visit to make this event a highlight to our year?

I absolutely The Henna Artist! How exciting also to hear about the next book! I teach 1st and 2nd graders, and next year will be teaching them about early Asian civilizations. I feel like this book introduced me to a culture I do not know a lot about, and gave me a starting place for research and lesson planning! Are there any sources you would suggest for this? Thanks!

Monterey? My Grandmother grew up in the Cachagua in the Carmel Valley. Stories of living on the farm, protecting her little brother from a mountain lion then building a home in 1931 on Colton St. She was very active in society, the women's club and played bridge like a master. She even met and danced with John Steinbeck. After she passed, my parents lived in that house for years. Good memories!
