Goodreads asked Patrick Jones:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Patrick Jones Writer's block comes from not knowing the beginning, the middle, or the end of your story. When I write, each new chapter feeds off of the previous chapter. The action of the story comes from what had happened before. The story should write itself. You job is only to find the words. If you write 1000 words a day and feel that you can write more, then do it! If all you can write is 500 words, consider that day a success. On days you can't think of a thing to write, go back and read the chapters that you wrote for inspiration.
