How do you get inspired to write?

Kenzie Nichols Under this pen name, the inspiration normally comes from a challenge. Someone has said "XYZ can't be done" and I tell them to hold my coffee and watch me do it. Xylem was a monthly writing challenge trying to combine two stories into one. Damn Poo Hex was a title challenge off of a word search. The entire Far Far Away series was a challenge to do a Shrek retelling and build a world around it. I like seeing how far I can push myself. Sometimes it works out and the stories are something that stick with me and the readers and other times, not so much but it gave us all a good laugh in the process!
