How do you get inspired to write?

Nikolas P. Robinson I read a lot. I like to read a variety of different books within various genres because one never knows where the inspiration might come from. I also enjoy watching a lot of movies and television programming as well as playing video games. Media of all sorts can serve as an inspiration.
Beyond those things, I like to listen to music...particularly instrumental, post-rock material that helps to build a soundtrack in my head for which I'll need to craft scenes that are fitting.
Also, I love to browse through open submissions and even closed anthology submissions to see if the topic spawns something in me. Whether I can submit anything or not, I might just be inspired to write something new.
