Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dean Italiano The very-likely-to-be-a-trilogy starting with DEVIANT BLUE is based on an essay we were asked to write in high school. The question stuck with me, bothered me for years. Prove for or against: constant development in society is a good thing. I focused on science, medicines, technology... and I was deeply bothered by my final realizations, which are complicated and encompassed in the story I'm telling.
