Goodreads asked Daniel Rodrigues-Martin:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Daniel Rodrigues-Martin Quantum Fall began as a contest entry for my favorite online writers' workshop. I got the idea after I saw a cartoon of a 19th-century strongman that was featured on the site, and suggested to the site owner that he host a contest for writers to explain the "mysterious man's" backstory. The site owner took me up on that offer. Sadly, my entry was just a few hours too late to be accepted into the contest (GMT time VS EST time) but I ended up loving what I did with it, as did several of my readers. In October, I was inspired to finally do what I'd been planning since 2012: expand the story and make it an episodic series.
