Hi Michael! I just finished Esrahaddon and loved getting glimpses of Elan's history. Is there any chance you'll write a story set during Rex Uberlin's conquest?
Michael J. Sullivan
It's not on the drawing table for now. When I finished the Riyria Revelations I thought I would never go further down "that time line" because I thought the series wrapped up so perfectly that I didn't want to risk "jumping the shark" by writing something that came after, which would ruin a very good thing.
But now that I've finished Legends of the First Empire and The Rise and Fall books. I now have opened the door to going where I didn't think I would.
So that's what I'm working on at the moment - and I have a very high bar set for myself. If I don't clear it, those books will never see the light of day. If it comes out well . . . then it will certainly be the cherry on the top of the sundae that is all the books in Elan. I suspect I'll want to "end it there" - but who knows - I thought I would end my entire time in Elan with just Riyria Revelations (which was 6 books and now I have written 20).

I was told recently that editors are disliking the use of euphemisms. They don't want you to use anything other than pronouns and the character's name. So, in other words, you can't refer to one of your characters at the 'big warrior', or call someone as 'Fred's mother'. This also goes for body parts. You have to call an eye an eye, you can't call it an orb or any other descriptive word. Have you run into this?

Hi, Michael. I noticed while listening to Death of Dulgath and now while listening to Age of Myth that some of your scenery descriptions remind me of Ireland. Also, some of your place and character names are reminiscent of ancient Ireland (Nog, Meav). I recall that in Revelations you had a king named Ethlred. My question is, are you a British Isles history buff, and have you perhaps taken a trip over there?
