Donna Davis asked Taylor Brown:

Hi Taylor, I am reading the galley of Rednecks and loving it; the overall feel of it is similar to Gods of Howl Mountain. The histories of the UMW and Mother Jones, together and separately, are of keen interest to me. Is there something I can read that tells what aspects of your book are fiction and what aren't?

Taylor Brown Hi Donna! Great question. I added a quote citations page to the final version of the book that tells where some of the things people say were gleaned from the historical record, and there's a Bibliography in the back of the book that lists the major sources I used to conduct my research. There are varying and conflicting accounts of many aspects of the history (such as Mother Jones's Presidential telegram), so it's sometimes hard to delineate exactly what's truth and fiction even in the historical record. But in most cases I tried to infer / intuit what might have happened based on the evidence at hand. If there's anything specific you'd like to know, don't hesitate to ask!
