I really enjoyed "The Lost Empress". I'm a historian for the City of Ogdensburg, NY and was shocked that as someone who grew up on the St. Lawrence River had never heard of the sinking of the Empress of Ireland. Thanks for educating me! How did you hear about it?

Steve Robinson Hi Julie. I found out about the tragic sinking of the `Empress of Ireland' when I went looking for the backdrop to this story. As is often the case, I came across the disaster quite by chance during my research, and when I did, I couldn't believe I'd never heard of it either. I knew then that it had to feature, not least because I really wanted to let others know about it.
