How do you get inspired to write?

Sid Gardner My books are about social issues, and I make no apology for taking these as my subjects. The inspiration, then, comes from observing what happens in the world and trying to develop characters who react to these problems in creative and challenging ways. Children who are abused and neglected, conflict in the Old and New West, immigration, public and private agencies that don't work--these are the arenas in which inspiration is never lacking for me.
