How do you get inspired to write?

Beth Franzese I find inspiration in many places. The characters in "Paulie & Paulie" were inspired by the appearance of three people I saw standing on a street corner. "Birdie" is a homage to my grandmother; the tales of dancing in her slip for ice cream money and putting gum in the rabbi's beard are true. Two of the stories were writing assignments. A discussion about how a dark secret could affect one's life led to "Apron Strings."
