However, regarding the main book, the writers were specifically instructed to stay pretty far away from it. Characters and events can only really be mentioned in passing. So, unless mention of "The Kid" happens later in the book (I'm 40% through as of this answer), there isn't anything you'll miss just re-reading the original version. This is all just supplemental stories set in the world, not a continuation of King's work.(less)
