It sounded crazy at the time but I came to realize it is oh so true. In my first creative writing class the teacher told us that in writing a novel, “always carry enough provisions to make the journey through the desert.”
In other words, between the start and the finish, make sure you have enough in between to sustain and maintain the reader’s interest.
