Goodreads asked John Rachel:

What are you currently working on?

John Rachel I am writing three novels, two serious, one ridiculous.

Serious ... "Love Connection" set in Japan about two old people set up as drug mules by unscrupulous smugglers; "The Last Giraffe" about two tribes in 19th Century Africa, one who worships giraffes by protecting them, the other by eating them as a sacrament.

Ridiculous ... "Sex, Lies and Coffee Beans" based on a play my ex-wife and I wrote some years back, about a folksinging psychologist during the heydays of self-help psychology books (late 80s and 90s). She tours the coffee houses of L.A. conducting healing workshops and singing tunes like "I'm Okay, You're The Pits" and "Give Your Inner Child An Eviction Notice."

I of course still write five political blogs a month, which keeps me on the DHS's no fly list and creates growing numbers of right wing assassins who are trying to find me here in Japan. I hear there's a bounty on my head. I am such a valued target it is all the way up to $25.

With the abundance of spare time my schedule allows, I also continue to write songs. I hope to have a whole CD of songs about human fellowship and world peace complete by the end of the year, just in time for the destruction of the human race by nuclear war.
