Goodreads
Goodreads asked Susan Appleyard:

How do you get inspired to write?

Susan Appleyard What inspired me the most is to read other books. If they are good books they make me want to try harder. If they are great books...well, that's a little discouraging.

Goodreads asked Susan Appleyard:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Mike Dixon
Mike Dixon asked Susan Appleyard:

This Sun of York contains some vivid descriptions of the English countryside. You now live in Canada. Are these childhood memories? The eyes of a child can be more penetrating than those of an adult … less clogged by experience.

Alan Hamilton
Alan Hamilton asked Susan Appleyard:

I'm writing a novel with almost the identical title to your book. Mine is 'This Son of York'. I hope you won't feel aggrieved! It's an alternative history: what if Richard III won at Bosworth and how would his reign have turned out? There'll be two books. The title of the second: 'In a Foreign Field'. Progress is slow because the day job (I'm a publisher's editor) gets in the way. I've put your book 'down to read'.
