Matt Roy
Matt Roy asked Resa Goldberg:

As reader yourself what makes a good read and why?

Resa Goldberg I enjoy books with unusual characters, settings, plot and dialogue.

An example of an unusual character would be the protagonist in Aimee Bender's book, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, who can taste the emotions of those who made the food she eats.

Euphoria by Lily King takes place in New Guinea in the 1930s, which I found historically fascinating.

I loved the story of The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. The movie and the way it brought the complex characters to life made me appreciate it even more.

Finally, the dialogue, mostly internal dialogue of the missing wife, Amy Dunne, in Gone Girl was shockingly well-written.
