Mary Buckham Great question Donna and not an easy one to answer. My characters are real flesh and blood people to me (even the ones without blood) and are as real as the people I pass in the mall. I just get to let them loose on the page and then race after them, trying to keep up. As for the evil ones? I think my protagonists create the evil characters because they know who or what will push their buttons best. My challenge is to get out of Alex or Kelly's way and let them deal with the bad guys. Not easy. I want to protect them, but that makes for boring stories :-)
