How do you get inspired to write?

Karin Mitchell There are tons of things that make me want to write. The biggest thing is being in a new place. I can be on the side of the road in Kansas or on a hiking trail I've never been on. But generally, driving in new environs gives me ideas. I'm also inspired by the stories people I encounter tell me. I'm a keeper of stories. It's as though people around me can tell their stories will be held carefully by me and so they tell me deep and serious things. Some of those things must be made into a written story.
Other things that inspire me are: music lyrics, skiing, running, swimming, and art museums.
