One last comment - I'm looking forward to seeing you next week at Murder By The Book in Houston; I'm going to get in line last as I have TONS of questions. It is always a special treat when you come for a lecture/ q&a at your book launch. Thank you so much for being so available to your fans - do you love it as much as we do?

And I look forward to seeing you, Amy! It's probably best to ask the questions during the Q&A, as the bookstore has loads for me to do once I have completed the main signing and they need it done before the store closes, so they usually like me to move on to the next job fairly quickly before they show me the door! The only thing I don't like is all the flying I have to do - I am a terrible flyer, and being on book tour means being on an airplane every day, which for me is a special kind of hell for however long I am in the air.

Is Maisie based on a real historical person or someone you know? She is so human that your readers are captured by her. Your mystery writing is different in that there is always a murder that forms the nucleus of the novel, but her relationships with Billy, James, Priscilla, etc. are honest, insightful, sincere, and even humorous that you have become my favorite writer!!

I absolutely adore Maisie and her world! I love the characters, the details, and the obvious research and care you put into each book. I’m curious, how many drafts do you typically write before you send a novel to your publisher? I’m an aspiring author myself, and fascinated by the inner workings of those I admire!

The Maisie Dobbs books are the first I recommend to friends looking for a new mystery series. I describe them as up there with Dorothy Sayers in the quality of the writing. Maisie is such a complex character with practicing meditation as well as her innate intelligence, perseverance and above all, kindness. She is totally unselfish. Will she ever find personal contentment with a new love interest?
