Goodreads asked Micki Peluso:

How do you get inspired to write?

Micki Peluso I felt compelled to write when my 14 year old daughter was killed by a drunk driver on a bright sunny day right near out home. I could not speak of the tragedy so I wrote about it, which culminated into a lifetime career of jouranlism, commentary, short fiction and non-fiction. This led to my first book, . . . And the Whippoorwill Sang, a funny, bittersweet story of Noelle's life and death; a celebration of life rather than a eulogy of death. This book has the humor of "Cheaper by the Dozen' with the heart of "To Killl a Mockingbird." In writing this book, I kept a death bed promise to my daughter.
