Sometimes it is just a matter of knowing I have to write. When I get a project started I try and set a weekly goal and just write until I hit or exceed that goal. I'm lazy, so if I just wait around for true "inspiration" I don't think I would accomplish anything. That said for some reason ideas come to me in the shower. It just tends to be a great place to brainstorm.
