Write. Lots of people tell me "hey, I've got this book idea about..." Or "I'm going to write a story about..." but they don't actually do it. Having an idea doesn't make you a writer, writing it into a story or book does. Spending the tedious months writing, rewriting, editing, and editing some more makes you a writer. So write.
