Goodreads asked Richard Ferguson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Richard Ferguson I actually have an answer for this. I just sit down and start writing. I know where I am in the story and I have a general idea where I want to go, so I don't worry about what I'm writing. I find that if I keep going I'll get on track. Then, I can go back and delete or edit anything that doesn't sound that good. It's much the same as starting a book. Many times, the beginning isn't really where the story ought to begin so you (or I) drop the dull beginning and start where the action begins. It's the same thing for me when I'm stuck. Just put words down and move the story forward without worrying how it sounds, then go back and edit it.
