Boy, this is a tough question. In most cases, I don't have a choice. I'm in the news business, so when something breaks, we have to write about it and post it online immediately ... no waiting for the muse for inspiration.
I think that discipline has taught me to write my way through any kind of writer's block that I might have.
I often find that just the act of writing will eventually inspire me. So I sometimes just blurt out as much as I can, then go back and edit the copy for a more refined outcome.
