Hello! I just finished your novel Serial Games and I thought it was great! As someone who just self published her first novel, I find self- promotion to be harder than writing! What advice or suggestions would you give to new authors on how they should promote their books? Thanks!

Congratulations on publishing your novel! I'm sure you're really excited. For promotion, get the next book out! Especially if you write in a series; the more books you have out, the more you can incorporate the funnel technique, which is giving away that first book for free or at an inexpensive price. Or, you can keep it full price and see what happens! There's no one size fit all plan; follow the top authors in your genre and see what they are doing.

You can always promote your book for free on blogs and other promotion sites (see below).

Overall, I wouldn't worry about promoting until you have a few books published; trends may change by the time you do, lol. Make sure your writing is high quality, and the books will aid in the promotion process.

#2 Top Tip (#1 Being write the next book): Have a mailing list. Put the link in the back of your book, on your website, on your book's page on Amazon or wherever it's sold; everywhere. Your fans want to know when the next book is out; don't let them forget about you! ;-)
