Dear Lois, Vorkosigan saga is a masterpiece. Mindblowing thoughts ran through my head while reading it. The world you have created is magnificent. I wish HBO wanted to record tv-series of books. Would you sell them the rights? Have you ever had an offer for a film adaptation? Big greetings from Croatia.

If we had a viable, legitimate offer, sure. It's a buyer's market, though. Very few production companies are up to creating such a media series -- it takes a barge-load of money and highly experienced people -- and they have a million books to choose from.
I had one feature film offer about, good grief, twenty years ago now, which went as far as a script, which was unfortunately dire. It pretty much cured me of any excitement or hope about the process, I'm afraid.
There would likely be a better chance of more of the actual book making it onto the small screen than the big one. Although Falling Free (animation!) or Shards of Honor might actually work better for a feature film than the Miles tales, as they are shorter and more self-contained.

This is a thank you for the epilogue in volume four of the Sharing Knife series, Horizon. I’d read them before, but just blew through them again this weekend with such enjoyment. Given our current political climate, malices, ground work, and beguilement have a very different meaning this read around. Did you have any political/authoritarian fears as you wrote these books?

“The Mountains of Mourning” shows the Barrayan system in action. In the case of someone getting disappeared by ImpSec, the only recourse would seem to be to be family/friends going to their Count and asking him to intervene, which would probably mean him going to the emperor, as ImpSec seems to be operating without any restraint except from the Emperor & Auditors. That suggests ImpSec has a fairly recent origin?
