Goodreads asked Kimberly Ranee Hicks:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Kimberly Ranee Hicks If you know in your heart that there's a writer within, then don't just say it, be about it! Anything you want bad enough, you'll do everything possible to see it come to fruition. Writing is the same way. You make time for it. You study your craft; you take it serious; you do it every single day. This is not an occupation that you can do some of the time. It's a very unforgiving gift. If you don't use it, you'll become stale. You have to keep at it. You also have to know that whatever you put out into the universe, not everyone is going to like or accept your craft. You have to have a thick skin in this business. There will be so many opinions on what you do and some will be in your favor and some will not. You have to believe in your abilities and you should learn to handle criticism. Don't take every negative review as a bad thing. Some people have great advice and the only way for you to get better at what you do is by practice. This is why if you're truly serious, YOU must write daily. Believe in yourself and continue to grow as a writer. You can never learn enough!
