Hi Susan!
As a reader, I always like to read a series in order. I like to feel as though I'm experiencing things as the characters do, chronologically. That said, each Liz Talbot Mystery can be read as a standalone. There are certain things you will have more insight into if you read in order, but it isn't necessary to follow the story, and you won't be lost if you decide to start with book two or three.
